As I’ve mentioned before, Teaching and Learning, especially as they intersect with technology, are of great interest to me. Today I was asked to host a group of K12 educators who were visiting campus for the 2008 Conference on Texas Excellence in Education. We first gathered at a luncheon and discussed the future of Texas K12 schools, teachers and college students who are preparing to be teachers.
After lunch, the Fine Arts group, consisting of about 10 people, came back to our college where the agenda was:
- Andrew Dell’Antonio on techniques for teaching musicology
- Learn about the Digital Archive Service (DASe)
- Learn about the UTunes project
- What about leveraging technology from the “shadow IT department”?
- Melinda Mayer on Pachyderm, a low-cost, easy to use, content generation system
- and tour a technology enhanced classroom and student computer lab.
