Over the last several months, I worked with a colleague from the University of Wisconsin, Carole Turner, to learn what students want with respect to instructional technology, and how well we are doing in meeting their needs.
In an earlier project, we learned quite a bit from research done by the Pew Trust and others on the characteristics of today’s students, and we wondered how closely our students fit that profile. Many of those research articles can be found here.
Next, we interviewed several students from each campus hoping to learn their perceptions of our local technology efforts. Not a scientific study, but a kind of reality check.
This resulted in the Educause presentation shown above, with each click advancing the slide. The students tell us in their own words about their likes and dislikes. (the first student audio is several slides in)
